Ingalls, KS | Gray County

Founded in 1884, the town was named for John J. Ingalls, a U.S. senator from Kansas who submitted Ad Astra per Aspera for the state motto. A popular Latin phrase meaning "To the stars through difficulty," it was adopted as the official state motto in 1861.
