Wolf Creek, the only nuclear plant in the state, generates electricity by heating water to produce steam in this massive, domed structure. Steam turns turbines that spin a magnet inside an electrical generator, thus producing electricity. No gas, oil, or coal is burned as a heat source. With the property tax the plant pays to the county, it was possible to fund a new library and fire department in each incorporated city in the county.
