SANTA FE TRAIL

Santa Fe Trail Marker-Offerle

Offerle, KS | Edwards County

A DAR marker in City Park at Walnut and U.S. 50/56 denotes that the "dry route" cutoff of the Santa Fe Trail started 1 mile north and later 1 mile south of this point during the trail's active years. In both cases, the route eventually connected with the longer "wet route," which followed the Arkansas River, near Dodge City.
