HISTORICAL MARKER

Portis City Park

Portis, KS | Osborne County

In the northwest corner of the city park, Tubby Millar, animator for Looney Tunes Porky Pig cartoons, is recognized on a limestone sign. To the north are two historical markers. One shares the rural culture elements of Portis and the other, a stone marker, is a memorial to Claude Elijah Burtch who was the doctor in Portis from 1911-1955 and who was responsible for the Portis Hospital. The worn base stone of the memorial was the entry step to his office, as the marker states.
