A gift from F.H. Peabody, Santa Fe railroad vice president, this former 1874 library was the first free public library in Kansas. Now a museum, its treasures include a doll collection and Victorian-style dollhouse, the early-1900s popcorn popper from the Sunflower Theatre, and photos of the famous trotting horse races and Chautauquas that took place in City Park at the turn of the century. Call ahead. (NRHP)
