In response to the devastating 1951 flood, Congress authorized construction of this reservoir in 1954. Recreational opportunities abound at the lake and park. Just for fun, go to Outlet Park and walk over Long Creek bridge, a replica of a historic suspension bridge once located outside Melvern. State park entrance charge. Cabins available, reservations required.
