First Power Pole

Horton, KS | Brown County

The first rural electric power pole in Kansas was erected here on November 10, 1937, for the Brown-Atchison Electric Cooperative. A historical marker notes that it was the first rural electric project to energize Kansas and was financed with a loan from the Rural Electrification Administration.
