In the park's southwest corner stands a 1904 memorial to Father Padilla, the first Christian martyr killed in Kansas (in 1542). Note the fascinating tree swing; it looks as if the tree grew support cuffs for the bar that joins them. Additional park attractions are the trail around Memorial Lake, a nine-hole disc golf course, the 1937 WPA swimming pool, and on the park's west side a picturesque area featuring WPA stone steps and a stone bridge crossing a creek.
