Delphos Cemetery

Delphos, KS | Ottawa County

If you’re looking for one cemetery filled with fascinating gravestones, this is the place to explore.

One of the most memorable markers belongs to Douglas Eames, inscribed with the thought-provoking proverb: “All things have an end, except a sausage... which has two.” Though the stone lists no death date, Eames passed away in 2024. You’ll find his marker about 200 feet south of the main entrance and three rows west of the main driveway.

A few rows farther west stands another notable gravestone, etched with the image of a covered wagon.

Many other intriguing gravestones can be found here, including those of:

  • Anna Morgan, who was held captive by the Sioux and Cheyenne and later rescued by General George Custer
  • Harland Thompson, a member of the 315 Bakery Company during World War I
  • Grace Bedell Billings, remembered as Lincoln’s “Little Correspondent”
