Blue Rapid Murals

Blue Rapids, KS | Marshall County

Three murals (and a fourth inside the museum) can be viewed just by cruising the "squircle" (round square) in downtown Blue Rapids. You can't miss the first one as you drive south and look to your right. Three giant sunflowers on a field of blue welcome you to Blue Rapids. It was painted by artist Liberty Hollis-Sutter in 2023. Around the bend to the south, next to the Holm Log Cabin, find early settlers and Native Americans painted by Kenny Winkenwader in 1999. He repainted this beauty in 2021. Continue from there to find a mural, also painted by Winkenwader, depicting the former gypsum plant standing amidst a flower garden on the east side of the museum. Inside the museum a large Winkenwader mural illustrates the Donner Party on a stop at Alcove Springs.
