Start your explorations here to learn about Atchison's early history. Lewis and Clark came through the area in 1804, and some 50 years later Atchison became a busy commercial center for steamboats, wagon trains, and eventually railroads. Exhibits about Amelia Earhart; Deafy Boular, the bricklayer; and David Atchison, the one-day president, are featured. Train enthusiasts can view an outdoor collection of rail cars year-round.
