Board the train at the 1887 Rock Island depot at Old Abilene Town. Enjoy a two hour, 10-mile, round-trip ride in a 100-year-old coach or in an open-air observation car. A 1945 diesel-electric locomotive powers this conveyance through the lovely Smoky Valley between Abilene and Enterprise. Admission charge. Reservations recommended. The website provides additional dates and options including a dinner train, a steam locomotive, a Silver Flyer Railbus tour, and a historic homes and barns bus tour. Note: The Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad plan to restore the steam locomotive Santa Fe 3415 by Labor Day 2027 so it can be put back into service for a round-trip ride. Stay tuned!
