A grist and flour mill was built on this river in 1875 (the mill closed around 1900), but sometime prior to 1892 Jo Johansen constructed a sandstone milldam to create a water supply. A primitive path on the north side of the iron truss bridge takes you down to the water falling gently over a rock ledge.
