The first of the enormous windmills in Kansas sprang up around the tiny burg of Spearville in 2006. The turbines, powered by blades more than 100 feet long, can be seen on the horizon miles before you reach them. An estimated 300 to 400 turbines now dot the prairie landscape near this town. A kiosk with graphics and information sheds more light on the subject.
