The rotunda at Wilson Park, built in 1918, once hosted the traveling Chautauqua circuit—a lively blend of speakers, musicians, preachers, and entertainers who brought culture and conversation to communities across the country.

In 1996, the Olympic Torch Relay made its way through Arkansas City and nearby Winfield en route to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. A plaque in the park marks the occasion.

Today, the park is well-equipped for play and relaxation, with pickleball and tennis courts, a playground, picnic tables, and restrooms.
