Vermillion Creek Crossing

Belvue, KS | Pottawatomie County

Just west of the cholera cemetery on Oregon Trail Rd. An illustrated sign tells the story of the nearby Oregon Trail crossing over Vermillion Creek. Commonly known as Vieux Crossing (named for Louis Vieux), it also accommodated the military road from Fort Leavenworth to Fort Riley. (NRHP)
