The restored Santa Fe depot houses the Safari Museum and the Chanute Public Library. Constructed in 1903, the depot was once home to Santa Fe railway's Southern Division headquarters and a large Harvey House restaurant. The adjacent area has been developed into a plaza featuring the Octave Chanute memorial, a gazebo, walking trail, and a small collection of rail stock. (NRHP)
