Underground Tunnel Tours

Ellinwood, KS | Barton County

In the 1880s the town was populated by German immigrants who, in their home country, had used tunnels as a practical access to businesses in basements. Several tours now take you under Ellinwood. On the westside of Main you're led down back stairs, past coal chutes, and into former underground business areas. A tour on the east side of Main takes you under the historic Wolf Hotel. Admission charge. Reservations required Thursday-Monday.
