Wichita, KS | Sedgwick County

A granite monument memorializes the tragic events of January 16, 1965, when a KC-135 refueler took off from McConnell Air Force Base and crashed into the neighborhood near Piatt and 21st. Twenty-three residents and seven air crewmen were killed, and 10 homes were destroyed.
