The arboretum and wetlands were started in 1991 and are filling in nicely with trails, labeled trees, and shrubs. Two acres of wetlands, a large gazebo, a memorial tree area, nature trails throughout the 19-acre park, and an 18-hole disc golf course were developed on land deeded to the arboretum by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1991. The old municipal swimming pool bathhouse on site was converted into a visitor center. During the season, beautiful flower gardens enhance the visitor center area.
