Historic Riggs Arboretum

For a walk through the oldest arboretum west of the Mississippi, ask John Riggs, grandson of John Walter Riggs who established this 10-acre site in 1887, for permission. It's worth it just to see the amazing bark pattern on the Kansas champion Loblolly Pine! Trails take you past two more Kansas champions— American Yellowwood and Laurel Oak'and 70 other varieties of trees from around the world.
