HISTORY

Old Mill Plaza

Newton, KS | Harvey County

The grand old mill, a Second Empire style building, was constructed in 1879 as the Monarch Steam Mill. In 1886 Bernhard Warkentin purchased it and converted it to a roller mill (NRHP) to handle the Turkey Red hard winter wheat. The historic structure has had several lives and survives today as Old Mill Plaza housing several businesses.
