Constructed 1886, this courthouse was the center of a heated county seat battle in 1889. A dozen men from nearby Ingalls, which had vied to become the county seat, raided the courthouse, stole the county records, and left three men dead in a bloody gunfight. On the front of the building, bullet holes from the gunfight are a visual reminder of the historic and deadly battle.
