The route comprises 48 miles of winding, stair-stepping roads past stone fences and buildings and undulating Flint Hills pastures. The west end begins at I-70 exit 328 and proceeds 4 miles south on K-99 through Alma, continues 9 miles south to the K-4 intersection, then 35 miles east on K-4 through Eskridge and Dover in Shawnee County, ending at Glick southwest of Topeka.
