CAMPANILE

Memorial Campanile

Lawrence, KS | Douglas County

One of the most striking features on campus is this towering memorial to World War II veterans. The Campanile carillon bells resound across the valley it overlooks and strike on the quarter hour during the academic year. The tall bronze doors, designed by Bernard 'Poco' Frazier, contain symbolic themes of early Kansas. If you're wondering, campanile means free-standing bell tower.
