After hosting a swap and sell convention in 1967, LaCrosse became known as the Barbed Wire Capital of Kansas. Barbed wire has quite a history in Kansas and the West, and here you'll see 2,000 different styles of wire, complete with their specific names, patent numbers, and patent dates. On exhibit also are trade tools including wire splices, stretchers, and post-hole diggers; liniments for barbed-wire lacerations; and a nest that a crow made from barbed wire.
