Baxter Springs, KS | Cherokee County

Johnston Library has the appearance of a courthouse because in 1872 it was intended to be one. It was never used for that purpose, but it was a city hall and a college before Peter Johnston donated it to the city in 1905 for its library. It still serves as the town library. (NRHP)
