CARNEGIE LIBRARY

Independence Carnegie Library

Independence, KS | Montgomery County

The red-brick Neoclassical Carnegie library has served as the city's public library since it was built in 1907. This impressive library added a new section in 2007 and, because of energetic new programming and networking, it received the Best Small Library in America award in 2012. Local art, photography, and traveling exhibits change frequently. (NRHP)
