HISTORIC HOME

Alf Landon Home

Independence, KS | Montgomery County

A dedicated group of Independence residents saved this historic home from demolition and moved it to its present location in 2005. Oil man Alf Landon served as governor of Kansas from 1933 to 1937, was the 1936 Republican presidential candidate, and is the father of Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker, although she never lived in this house. For tours, ask at Historical Museum. (RHKP)
