Even though the parish closed in 1993, the pride and spirit of this beautiful and immaculate church are evident. The exterior alone is extraordinary with its 165-foot center spire flanked by 100-foot corner spires. Inside, the 1918 Romanesque Gothic structure features stunning vaulted ceilings on tall quadrille columns. The stained glass was added in 1962. Built of native limestone, Holy Cross sometimes is referred to as the "two cent" church. Funds to build it were raised when each parish family agreed to be assessed 2 cents on every bushel of wheat sold. (8 Wonders of Kansas - Architecture)
