Henry Booth was a cavalry officer and a state representative from Riley County before coming to Fort Larned to operate the sutler's store. He later helped choose Larned's town site, developed many of its buildings, and was a director of the soldiers' home at Fort Dodge. Booth's importance to the town was acknowledged by his name being added to Main Street.
