McCracken, KS | Rush County

Howard Barnard established this innovative experimental school, which operated from 1906 to 1912. Among other advancements, he pioneered a school transportation system, visual education, physical education, and starting a library. An old bell on a limestone base marks the site of this progressive college. Learn more about its short but fascinating life at the Historical Museum, 202 W. 1st, and the Barnard Library, 521 Elm in LaCrosse.
