PEOPLE

Enos Mills

Prescott, KS | Linn County

The 'Father of Rocky Mountain National Park,' Enos Mills was the son of a Quaker family that farmed here when he was born in 1870. For health reasons, he left for Colorado at age 14 and began a lifelong love affair with the Rockies. Mills' interest led him to later be the driving force behind the creation of the national park in 1915. A sign noting this achievement stands at the site of his birth.
