Dead Ringer

Holton, KS | Jackson County

Because no one else would, Lyle Campbell placed a plaque by his gravestone that offers explanations of several grave expressions—"dead ringer," "saved by the bell," and "graveyard shift." His black granite gravestone at the west end of the cemetery is topped by a "Dead Ringer" silver bell.
