A 1.7-mile sidewalk trail running from 11th to 23rd Street, just west of Haskell Avenue, is named for writer, artist, and counterculture figure William Burroughs. Burroughs, who moved from New York City to Lawrence in 1981, lived in this area. Along this former rail corridor, visitors will find interpretive signage telling the story of the area, as well as fitness equipment, a pavilion, a playground, a splash pad, and neighborhood messaging.
