CATTLE TRAIL

Great Western Cattle Trail

Park, KS | Gove County

A sign in the green space explains that originally (1879) the town of Park was named Buffalo Park. For a brief time it was on the Great Western Cattle Trail, and in 1880 alone more than 165,000 Texas longhorns came through the town. By 1882 the trail had moved farther west, and in 1895 the town's name was changed to Park.
