Herington Post Office Mural

Herington, KS | Dickinson County

"Arrival of the First Train in Herington'1885" is the title of this 1937 Section artwork by H. Louis Freund. When Freund consulted Herington citizens about a subject for the mural, they chose the town founding. The mural portrays the arrival of the first Missouri Pacific train with the original town in the background, which includes M.D. Herington's ranch on the right.
