Sterling Lake

Sterling, KS | Rice County

A location for the 1955 filming of the movie Picnic, this 1937 lake with bridge and bathhouse, all built by the WPA, is today a lovely park and a pleasant place to fish and stroll. Since 1990, a swimming pool, splash pad, Veteran's Memorial, and a Turtle Garden honoring the turtle races annually held at the lake, have been added.
