Socialist Emanuel Haldeman-Julius became renowned worldwide as the publisher of the Little Blue Books. His goal was to print the world's great literature in an inexpensive (five-cent) format that working men and women everywhere could afford. Between 1919 and 1951 he and his wife, Marcet, printed more than 1,500 titles and sold more than 500 million copies.
