It was here in 1879 that President Rutherford B. Hayes enjoyed a picnic at the county fair. A thick stand of towering trees of walnut, pecan, and hickory creates a comfortable shaded canopy still today. You can almost hear people cheering during the horse races that were once held in the pasture nearby.
