Music plays indoors at the Prairie PastTimes or on pleasant evenings out on the street at 331 Broadway (bring your lawn chairs). This tradition was started in 1999 by Sue and Monty Smith of the Emma Chase Cafe, and the event is named for this former cafe. Music night has grown in popularity to become part of the iconic fabric of Kansas. The strains of bluegrass, country folk, gospel, or old-time rock and roll envelope downtown. (8 Wonders of Kansas - Customs) Note: Prairie PastTimes moved from its former city hall location in 2026.
