Franklin County Flint Hills Nature Trail
When the Flint Hills Nature Trail for hiking, biking, and equestrians is finished, it will be 118 miles long between Osawatomie and Herington. Although parts of the trail are under development, the 20-mile stretch between Ottawa and Quenemo is complete. The iron railroad bridge that crosses the Marais des Cygnes River, about 1½ miles west of Ottawa, is a scenic spot and within reach with a moderate walk. The trailhead is at E. 7th and Mason.
