Hope Cemetery
From Main, 1 mile west on 2nd. Among the many gravestones and mausoleums, a large upright stone marks the grave of newspaper editor and publisher Etta Semple (1855-1914). A plaque on the unhewn stone contains an inscription describing this beloved woman as a freethinker, radical, socialist, feminist, sanitarium founder, and champion of the downtrodden. The Semple stone stands in the middle section of the west side.
