KANSAS HISTORIC BYWAY

Western Vistas Historic Byway

Wallace County, Kansas

A 100-mile route from Lake Scott north on U.S. 83 to Oakley, then west on U.S. 40 to Sharon Springs takes you through chalk formations, buttes, and valley remains of a sea that flowed here 80 million years ago. Buffalo, American Indians, pioneers, early military, Wild West characters, and paleontologists knew this land well.
