Wagon Ruts

Most visible in the spring are the Santa Fe Trail wagon ruts (NRHP) near Howell. A sidewalk leads into the prairie grasses where you'll see historical markers and have the best view of the ruts. Looking out across the plains, it's easy to envision traders and their wagons rumbling along this trail, well-traveled from 1821 to 1880.
