Volland is about halfway between Alta Vista and Alma on Old K-10. Look for a small sign that leads you south into the Volland village. It was once a shipping point for cattle headed to Kansas City. For a back-road drive into the Flint Hills, go south past the Volland Store, across the tracks, and into the hills along Illinois Creek.
