A Boston banker built these two grand red-brick homes for his daughters and their husbands, who were to open banks in Fort Scott. The mansions were nearing completion when the Panic of 1876 struck. With no further support from the East, the banks never opened in Fort Scott. The sisters returned to Boston, never sleeping in their beautiful homes.
