Turkey Red Wheat

At the roadside pullover, a historical marker summarizes the history of Turkey red wheat and its journey to Kansas via the Mennonite colonists. The hard winter wheat helped Kansas earn its nickname the 'Wheat State.' The nation's leading wheat producer, Kansas continues to be known as the breadbasket of the world.
