8 WONDERS OF KANSAS ARCHITECTURE FINALIST

Topeka High School

Topeka, KS | Shawnee County

The 165-foot tower, reminiscent of a spire at England's Oxford University, highlights this magnificent Gothic structure built in 1931. The library is modeled after Henry VIII's Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace and now exhibits new Mark Flickinger murals. An English classroom resembles an Elizabethan withdrawing room, and the cafeteria has a wood-beamed ceiling and wainscoting. Reservations required for a tour. 8 Wonders of Kansas Architecture Finalist.Β  (NRHP)
