Lace up your hiking boots and get ready to see a world like no other, which includes sharing this unique space with the great American bison. The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve has more than 40 miles of backcountry hiking trails deemed moderately difficult and ranging from 4 to 13 miles in length. No pets are allowed on the backcountry trails, but four front country trails are pet friendly. Trails open 24 hours. Maps are available at the preserve's visitor center and online.
